Harpists
Music is something that brings to life any occasion. Especially, it is a wedding ceremony, than the effect is even more profound and immediate. In order to select a meaningful music for your wedding you will need some professional help.
To begin with, you need to decide what kind of music you want for your wedding. Is it the beautiful guitar strings or you want a traditional harpist.
You may have dreamt of using harp music for wedding not sure if it is even a reality. So if you want harpists for your wedding, how do you go about finding a professional harp player? What are the questions you should ask them? How much will they cost and what can you expect from them?
To hire a professional harpist, you need to take care of the following things:
- You need to give time to yourself when finding harpists. Most of the professional harpists are booked well in advance. This is done because the harpists need time to prepare for the wedding. So to find the harpists, you can get in touch with the wedding planners. You can also visit the wedding fairs, where you can find them. Another option is to look for them online.
- After you find the harpists, before contacting them make sure you have decided on your wedding date and location. This will help the harpist to confirm if they will be available on that date or not. The harpists have to carry the huge instrument to the location. Hence, you will find many harpists who will also charge you for the mileage and thus will prefer to know the wedding location beforehand. There are some professional harpists who will want to know if it is an outdoor wedding. There are some special requirements that the harpists have for playing outside. There are some who refuse to play outside.
- When you are contacting the harpists, find out how long he or she will play. Also discuss about how large the function will be. Also discuss, if amplification will be needed by the harp player and who will provide it. Also discuss in advance, what type of music you want to be played in which part of the wedding. Try and be flexible in discussing these details with the harpist.
- Ask the harpist if there are any references who you can contact. Also discuss how much experience he or she has as a professional harp player. Ask for some CDs or website where you can hear the harp player’s music as a sample.
- Discuss about all the cost details with the harp player in advance. Before you sign the contract, make sure that you go through it properly.
- Get someone at the wedding location to help the harpist set up the instrument. The person should guide the harpist, as to where the harp is to be located and other such details.
- If you have engaged the harpist to play for long hours, then allow 10-15 minutes break for the harp to be played well.
If you keep this in mind, you can set up a musical tone for your wedding extravaganza.
